I ‘ve been going to write about my February vacation for a long time. I’ll post more about my vacation later.
The idea of a taking a vacation occurred to me in December 2017. I decided I would treat myself to a vacation for the first time in 20 years as a Christmas present to myself.
I started looking on the internet for vacations and travel agencies. One of the local radio stations repeatedly advertised a travel agency. I looked the agency up on the internet and browsed through the pre-planned vacation packages. There were some great vacation ideas, but none that really interested me, many of the plans were too expensive, so I decided to plan my vacation using their online tools.
I was dissatisfied with the hosting WordPress offered even though it was not too expensive. But after using WordPress hosting several of the features I needed, or wanted, were not available unless I upgraded to premium or business hosting. I looked around and decided to host my website on GoDaddy. The price was right, only $12.00 a year. (a special offer). I moved my WordPress site using an exported xml file. The initial import went well, and my site loaded perfectly.
While I was updating my pages and posts (many things get broken during an import) my GoDaddy hosting kept going down. I called support and they couldn’t find anything wrong. I kept updating my pages and my site would go off-line when I tried to save my work. I called GoDaddy support again to no avail. My site went back on-line while I was waiting for my turn. To correct the problem (if it was something I had done) I removed my site and imported it again. That was a mistake. Most of the media would not import, the system said it already existed.
During all of this, while I was again trying to repair my post and pages, the server came back with a server error that indicated the server was undergoing scheduled maintenance and to check back in a minute. I gave up for the night and went to bed. Now it is the next day and everything seems to be going well. I haven’t had any failures so far today.
As planned I returned to work today. I should have called before I went in. I was sent home because the store wasn’t busy. I finally have the schedule I want, Wednesday Thursday and Friday.
I can’t decide if I want to continue to work. I took official retirement in 2012. That worked well for me for a few years then I started to get bored with not having anything to do. After a while I got a job at McDonald’s. Working at McDonald’s is a tough job, the work is very demanding, customers are very demanding, and the company is very demanding.
I’ve worked at McDonald’s for just under three years and have reached a point where I don’t want to work anymore. It gets more difficult to go into work every shift. Last week I called in sick on Tuesday and on Wednesday I texted my boss indicating I wouldn’t be in for the rest of the week. I need to mention I have submitted my notice to quit on three previous occasions. Each time management has talked me into not quitting so I stayed on.
Today is Sunday and I have one more day off before I am scheduled to work again. After having a week off going back to work is not something I am looking forward to. There is one problem, I like the money I earn at McDonald’s. My question to you and the universe is; should I go back to work or should I quit?
A very interesting series created by Netflix. The show loosely follows the life and events of Queen Elizabeth. I’ve never paid much attention to the royal family, so I find this show very informative, even knowing that the show may not be entirely factual. One impression I get from the show is that Queen Elizabeth and prince Phillip were not always happy in their marital relationship. I haven’t watched the entire series so I may rewrite this post later.
Based on an award-winning play (“The Audience”) by showrunner Peter Morgan, this lavish, Netflix-original drama chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy) from the 1940s to modern times. The series begins with an inside look at the early reign of the queen, who ascended the throne at age 25 after the death of her father, King George VI. As the decades pass, personal intrigues, romances, and political rivalries are revealed that played a big role in events that shaped the later years of the 20th century.
I started to write a story about how I got to this WordPress blog. I originally wanted a simple short story but found my story was getting far too complicated and would be of limited interest. Let me just say after much trial and error my website ended up being hosted on the WordPress servers. I find WordPress hosting to be inadequate in that most of the features I had on other hosting services require an upgrade on WordPress. Since I paid for a years’ worth of hosting I’ll have to do with the features that come with the personal plan. I’ll relocate my website in another year.
In my opinion many of the people in the US have gone mad. Political parties on both sides of the aisle have gone off the rails. I see dishonesty and corruption in and around most of the issues that are considered headline news. How do I determine what the truth is? How do I find the real truth?
There was a time when I trusted the news I saw on television or listened to on the radio. The news I see and hear now, coming out of washington, reminds me of grand theatre. I see our political leaders performing for the camera and not really accomplishing anything. will it ever end? When will our government officials and leaders return to the business of governing our country without prejudice?
I’ve been working on my WordPress site for most of the day today. Like I said in a previous post there is something broken on nearly every page. I wonder if it’s worth the effort.
I’ve also read some posts from other sites; most interesting insight on how others see the world. It’s good to know there are other people who see things the way I do. At the same time there are some blogs that are really out there.

I have visited a few WordPress sites recently and have noticed most of them land on their blog posts instead of a static home page. I like my home page but the information posted there is stale and not relevant anymore (if it ever was). I think I’m going to make some changes.
