I sometimes wonder about the creation of the earth, how it was done, where the materials came from and is there more than one earth. From a religious point of view, the earth was created by God through the power of the Holy Priesthood. The materials were available from matter unorganized or materials floating around in space. I can’t help but wonder when I see the beauty of the planet we all live on of how complex the creation must have been.

I don’t remember what I was taught in high school about the solar system or galaxies or universes so I decided to look them up on the internet.

The first search results that came up were from Wikipedia so those are the ones I’ going to use here.

Solar System

Solar SystemThe Solar System is the gravitationally bound system comprising the Sun and the objects that orbit it, either directly or indirectly. Of those objects that orbit the Sun directly, the largest eight are the planets, with the remainder being significantly smaller objects, such as dwarf planets and small Solar System bodies. Of the objects that orbit the Sun indirectly, the moons, two are larger than the smallest planet, Mercury.

GalaxyA galaxy is a gravitationally bound system of stars, stellar remnants, interstellar gas, dust, and dark matter. The word galaxy is derived from the Greek galaxias, literally “milky”, a reference to the Milky Way. Galaxies range in size from dwarfs with just a few thousand (10³) stars to giants with one hundred trillion (10¹⁴) stars, each orbiting its galaxy’s center of mass.

UniverseThe Universe is all of time and space and its contents. The Universe includes planets, stars, galaxies, the contents of intergalactic space, the smallest subatomic particles, and all matter and energy. The observable universe is about 28 billion parsecs (91 billion light-years) in diameter at the present time. The size of the whole Universe is not known and may be either finite or infinite. · Text under CC-BY-SA license

Our solar system and galaxy are phenomenal in the way that everything works together to make life possible. If the other planets and the moon weren’t in our solar system our planet wouldn’t be able to function as it does, it may not even exist. To think there may be billions of solar systems in our galaxy and billions of galaxies in our universe is beyond my comprehension. Even more incomprehensible is the thought or idea that it all happened by accident or with a big bang.

I am filled with awe when I think about the organization of our world and its place in the solar system and galaxy. I believe that it was not an accident, I believe the universe was created by a creator and I prefer to call that creator God.
