How did the earth get created? From where did the materials come? Is there more than one earth? From a religious point of view; God created the earth through the power of the Holy Priesthood. The materials were available from matter unorganized or materials floating around in space. I can’t help but wonder when I see the beauty of the planet we all live on; how complex the creation must have been

Because I don’t remember what the teachers taught in high school about the universe and creation, I decided to look it up on the internet.

The first search results that came up were from Wikipedia, so those are the ones I’m going to use.

Solar System

The Solar System is the gravitationally bound system comprising the Sun and the objects that orbit it, either directly or indirectly. Of those objects that orbit the Sun directly, the largest eight are the planets, with the remainder being significantly smaller objects, such as dwarf planets and small Solar System bodies. Of the objects that orbit the Sun indirectly, the moons, two are more significant than the most minor planet, Mercury.

A galaxy is a gravitationally bound system of stars, stellar remnants, interstellar gas, dust, and dark matter. The word galaxy is derived from the Greek constellations, literally “milky,” a reference to the Milky Way. Galaxies range in size from dwarfs with just a few thousand (10³) stars to giants with one hundred trillion (10¹⁴) stars, each orbiting its galaxy’s center of mass.

Universe Creation

creationThe Universe is all of time and space and its contents. The Universe includes planets, stars, galaxies, the materials of intergalactic space, the smallest subatomic particles, and all matter and energy. The observable universe is about 28 billion parsecs (91 billion light-years) in diameter at the present time. The size of the whole Universe is not known and may be either finite or infinite. Our solar system and galaxy are phenomenal in the way that everything works together. If the other planets and the moon weren’t in our solar system, our world wouldn’t be able to function as it does. It may not even exist. To think there may be billions of solar systems in our galaxy. And billions of galaxies in our universe are beyond my comprehension. Even more incomprehensible is the thought or idea that it all happened by accident or with a big bang. Creation was the work of God.
